Ukrainian Egg Painting – Pysanky with Sue Hendriks

Just in time for Easter come in to learn an ancient art form; Pysanky also known as Ukrainian Egg Painting. Over 2000 years ago people of the Ukraine decorated eggs with the  belief that eggs embodied great powers.  Originally it was a way to unshackle the earth from the hold of winter and to welcome the promise of spring, new life and prosperity.  With the advent of Christianity the symbolism grew to include rebirth and  eternal life, You will learn how to use bees wax, dyes and kistky to create one of a kind art pieces on an egg.  No experience is required.  We will be melting wax over an open flame so it can get messy.  Please wear play clothes, tie backs for long hair and short sleeves are recommended . All supplies are provided all you need is a sense of adventure. Cost is $35 Reservations are required. You can hold your place with a $10 nonrefundable payment. 810 679-8733 Class size is limited.
